Secondary Sch Students

Please choose at least one or more of the following Project Tasks to complete before

24th / 25th September 2016

You may choose to work in pairs or small groups
Projects will be completed in class & at home
Although we will help you start it off, this is your project, and you are in charge of it!

Make a 3D model of the Ka’bah

You can do this by using papier mache, cardboard, paper bricks or anything else!
Remember to explain the story behind building the Ka’bah as well as the significance of the Ka’bah, its physical features and important locations around it.

Create a Hajj Guide book

Create a practical guide book which offers invaluable advice to those intending to embark on the blessed journey to Hajj.
Here are some chapters you may wish to include:
Before leaving |The journey | In Makkah | Days of Hajj | In Madinah | Upon Returning

Make a Hajj map

Design a map consisting of all the important historical places of Hajj.
You can also show basic actions that are performed during Hajj (e.g. sa’i).
Your map can be 3D, including miniature versions of the Ka’bah, Muzdalifah and even miniature Hujjaj!
Remember to be as creative as possible and to label all the locations!

Design a website

Design a website all about Hajj- include the following points:
History of Ḥajj
How to perform Ḥajj
Important du’as

Design a Hajj board game

Design a fun and knowledgeable Hajj game for children aged 7 plus.
The game must include:
The historical places of Hajj.
The acts and rites performed during Hajj.
The dos and don’ts of Hajj.
The meaning and message of Hajj.

Oral Interview

Ask among your family and friends about their Hajj experience.
What preparations did they make?
What were some of the difficulties they faced?
What advice would they give to someone going for Hajj this year?

Diary Entry

Imagine you are about to embark on the amazing journey of Hajj. You are at the airport, ready to depart...
Write a diary entry on your Hajj journey from start to finish.
Things you may wish to include:
How you are feeling: emotionally, physically and spiritually.
Your experience on the Ḥajj
How you feel after coming home.

Hajj through history

Think of famous people who went on the Ḥajj and who wrote about their experiences: Ibn Batutta, Ibn Jubayr, Nasir e Khusraw, Mansa Musa, Lady Zainab Evelyn Cobbald, Richard Burton (the non-Muslim who snuck in!), Malcolm X and many more!
Teach us about their experiences through a poster, a website or anything else of your choice

Anything else!

If you have a project idea plan it and carry it out!
Also Work on a Movie / Documentary on Hajj (Work with Ustadh Hamid)

Design a Haj Lapbook

Things you may wish to include in your lapbook:

Where is the Ka’bah?

You can do this by drawing a Haj map.

Making tawaf:
How many times do we make tawaf?

Haj day by day:
Under each day you can write down all the rites of Haj that are performed on that particular day. For example, Day 1: Enter the state of ihram and make intention.

Ihram:
You can either draw one or if you are feeling really creative you can try and make one using fabric!

The story of Zamzam

Do’s and don’ts of Haj:
Make a list of all the things you can and cannot do whilst in the state of ihram.

The story of sacrifice

Safa & Marwah:
You can make a picture of Safa & Marwah and explain what happens here.

Here you can make a 2D or 3D model of the ka’bah, using papier mache, cardboard, paper bricks or anything else!
Remember to explain the story behind building the Ka’bah, the significance of the Ka’bah, its physical features and important locations around it.
